About the practice
What does Braving Wellness specialize in?

Braving Wellness is a specialized therapy practice for individuals and couples healing from relational trauma, problematic and compulsive sexual behavior, and shame. Angie Hatch is a licensed professional counselor and a CSAT (certified in problematic and compulsive sexual behavior) with more than 16 years of clinical experience.

Do you help the betrayed partner, the person struggling with the behavior, or both?

Both. As a CSAT trained in the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy, I work with betrayed partners on their own trauma and healing, with individuals who want to stop compulsive sexual behavior, and with couples rebuilding trust together.

What is relational trauma?

Relational trauma is the harm that happens inside a close relationship, through betrayal, deception, chronic disconnection, or other ruptures by someone you trusted. Betrayal trauma is one form of it. It can show up as intrusive thoughts, hypervigilance, anxiety, and difficulty trusting, and it deserves trauma-informed care, not just communication tips.

What therapy approaches do you use?

EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for trauma, the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, and The Daring Way™, based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, for shame resilience.

How the work happens
What is a therapy intensive, and how is it different from weekly sessions?

An intensive condenses months of weekly progress into one or a few focused days, without the weekly restart of checking in and running out of time. Braving Wellness offers EMDR and ART trauma intensives for individuals and couples intensives for partners rebuilding after betrayal.

Do you work with couples after an affair?

Yes. This is core to the practice. Using EFT and the Gottman Method, couples work here focuses on honest repair and rebuilt trust rather than papering over the cracks. An intensive is often the fastest way in when a couple is in crisis after discovery.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Sessions are confidential and protected under HIPAA. The limited exceptions are situations that involve a serious safety risk or that the law requires me to report, and I explain those clearly with you at the start of our work.

Logistics, fees, and insurance
Do you offer telehealth? Where do you see clients?

Telehealth is available across Arizona. In-person intensives are held in the Phoenix area by arrangement. Because of licensing law, you need to be physically located in Arizona during our sessions, though clients traveling in for an in-person intensive are welcome.

Do you take insurance?

Braving Wellness is an out-of-network provider. I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement, and many PPO plans reimburse a portion of psychotherapy. Every fee is confirmed in advance under the No Surprises Act.

What does it cost?

Fees are private pay. EMDR intensives start at $1,550, and couples intensives are priced by format on their own pages. The ten-week Daring Greatly™ and Rising Strong™ groups are $850, and the monthly maintenance group is $50. Standard session fees are confirmed during your consultation, along with a good faith estimate under the No Surprises Act.
