EMDR & ART Intensives
Some pain does not loosen its grip in a weekly hour. An intensive gives you unhurried, focused time to process what happened, quiet the beliefs you have carried too long, and start to feel like yourself again.
What if a few focused days could do what months of weekly sessions haven't?
Deep trauma processing, without the weekly restart.
Sound familiar?
Fifty minutes a week was never built for trauma that runs deep. Maybe one of these is where you are.
Every session gets spent catching your therapist up on another piece of the puzzle, and months in, you do not feel much better than when you started.
You have meant to start weekly therapy, but one more standing commitment feels overwhelming, and the waitlists make it easy to keep putting off.
You need relief now. You are white-knuckling your way through your days and cannot wait months or years to feel different.
You are new to this, and an intensive simply makes intuitive sense to you.
Why an intensive
Concentrate months of progress into a few focused days of deep processing.
Get relief from symptoms that have felt overwhelming, sooner rather than someday.
Reach your goals in a fraction of the time, which usually means less spent overall.
Fit real work around your life, without a weekly appointment to guard and reschedule.
What it helps with
These intensives use two of the most effective tools in trauma work, EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), to process painful experiences at the root rather than just manage the symptoms.
What sets these apart
I am trained in both EMDR and ART, so we are never locked into one path. We choose the method that fits you, and ART is where these intensives stand apart.
The most widely studied approach to trauma. Using gentle bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps your brain reprocess memories that have stayed stuck, so they lose their charge and stop hijacking the present.
A structured, eye-movement-based therapy known for working quickly, often in just a few sessions.
Its biggest advantage: you do not have to describe the details of what happened out loud. For relational trauma, sexual trauma, and deep shame, that can make the work feel dramatically safer, and it is a big reason clients choose to do this work with me.
How it works
We map your goals, current stressors, and supports, and make sure you are resourced for the work. This is also where we confirm an intensive is the right fit for you right now.
Focused EMDR or ART processing in extended blocks. We lower the charge on painful material while building your capacity to feel steadier and more present.
We reflect on what shifted and build a plan to carry it into daily life, with follow-up or referrals if you want ongoing support. I am glad to consult with your existing therapist as well.
A growing body of research suggests that delivering trauma-focused therapy in an intensive format is well tolerated, can reduce PTSD symptoms quickly, and lowers the chance of leaving treatment before the work is done.
Intensive delivery is a newer adaptation of trauma therapy. Research is ongoing, and outcomes vary from person to person.
Investment
An intensive is a premium format. It asks more of me in preparation, energy, and schedule flexibility, and it gives you a concentrated experience weekly sessions cannot. Every fee is confirmed in advance under the No Surprises Act.
A non-refundable deposit of half your total reserves your dates. Braving Wellness is an out-of-network provider. A superbill can be provided for the therapy hours in your intensive, which you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Current clients adding an intensive may have a different rate.
Questions
Instead of meeting for fifty minutes a week, we meet for several hours over one or more days. You skip the waitlist and the weekly restart, and you work through your concerns to a real stopping point rather than pausing every hour and waiting a week to continue. Processing runs in extended blocks, often 1.5 to 2 hours at a time.
Weekly therapy spends a lot of time just getting back up to speed: checking in, handling the crisis of the week, then closing before anything fully resolves. An intensive removes that overhead so more of your time goes to the actual work. Because it shortens the overall course of treatment, it is often more cost effective than months of weekly sessions, and it is easier to fit around work and family.
Both are available. In-person intensives are held in the Phoenix area. Online intensives are available for anyone located in Arizona. Because of licensing law, we can work together as long as you are physically in Arizona during our sessions.
You are welcome to travel to Arizona for an in-person intensive. Many people like getting away to focus on nothing but their own healing. You only need to be physically in Arizona for the time we are working together.
Email me and we will set up a free consultation so we can meet, see how we connect, and decide whether an intensive is a good fit for you right now. If it is, we schedule your dates, take your deposit, and I send intake paperwork to complete before we meet.
Sometimes. Braving Wellness is an out-of-network provider. Many PPO plans reimburse a portion of psychotherapy. I recommend calling the number on your insurance card ahead of time to ask about out-of-network benefits and whether they reimburse several hours of therapy in one day. I can provide a superbill with the required diagnosis code for you to submit.
No responsible therapist can guarantee outcomes, and I will not. What an intensive gives you is extended, uninterrupted time to go deeper and make more progress without long gaps between sessions. The work is intense by design. It is normal to feel tired or more sensitive for a few days afterward. I check in throughout and adjust the pace to keep the work safe and manageable.
Who you will be working with
I am Angie Hatch, a licensed professional counselor with more than 16 years of experience and specialized training in EMDR and ART. I have sat with a lot of people through the hardest things they carry.
An intensive asks a lot of you. My job is to make the pace manageable, keep you resourced, and make sure you never feel like you are doing the hard part alone.
If weekly therapy has plateaued, or you are ready for something deeper, let's talk about whether an intensive is your next step.
